It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Architecture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. A distinguished academic community committed to excellence in architectural education, research, and professional practice.
Since its establishment, the Department has remained steadfast in its mission to produce highly skilled, socially responsive, and intellectually grounded architects capable of shaping the built environment in meaningful and sustainable ways. Situated within one of Nigerias most historic and culturally significant cities, our Department benefits from a rich architectural heritage that continues to inform our teaching, research, and design philosophy.
At the core of our academic programme is a rigorous curriculum that integrates design studio culture, theoretical inquiry, technological innovation, environmental responsiveness, and contextual sensitivity. We are dedicated to nurturing creativity while upholding discipline, critical thinking, and ethical responsibility. Our students are trained not only to design buildings but also to interrogate space, culture, sustainability, and urban transformation within local and global contexts.
